Stena Recycling installs Presona baler

Recycler cites reliability and prepress technology as deciding factors for choosing Presona baler.

Stena Recycling, a Sweden-based recycling company, has installed a Presona LP 100 DH4S bale press at its recycling facility in Kristianstad, Sweden. The decision to install the Presona baler system at the plant follows Stena consolidating two facilities it operated in Kristianstand. Following the merging of the plants, the company realized it needed a new baler to boost the throughput of the facility.

Stena had been using a Presona at the site. However, the recycler determined that after many years of efficient service, it needed a baler with greater capacity.

"We are very pleased with Presona and the reliability delivered by its balers, says Christoffer Thuresson, Stena’s facility administrator. The baling press is the heart of our plant, and we depend on it to work flawlessly and all the time.”

Further, Thuresson notes, “We are seeing an increase in the use of light materials like plastics, and Presona’s pre-press technology helps us in getting good bales with high weight.”

The baler, installed last November, is being used to compact old corrugated container, paper, plastics and a host of other materials. It has a combined press force of 150 tonnes and has a throughput of up to 20 tonnes per hour for cardboard. In fact, with the baler being used for around 20 different materials, the LP 100 DH4S is being readjusted for a new material up to four times a day.

"With Presona’s pre-programmable control systems, readjusting the baler is easy and we are sure to get optimized bales every time,” says Thuresson.
