The project is the second phase of two upgrades at the
Phase One includes the installation of a complete standalone nonferrous system consisting of three Steinert eddy current systems and an ISS system.
Phase Two will upgrade the system with a WEG 4000-hp motor, U.S. Shredder’s unique shredder control and management system, water injection system, new control housing with operator station, U.S. Shredder’s closed-loop air system and new ferrous downstream equipment. Then the ferrous downstream system will be connected to the nonferrous system, all of which will be operating inside a newly erected building.
“The entire system and installation plan was designed to create minimum downtime for the shredder while the upgrade was accomplished,” Tigner says.
