About a week after someone stole the torch-bearing copper arm of Medford, Ore.'s 8-1/2-foot replica of the Statue of Liberty, the limb was found in a pile of scrap metal in a White City, Ore., steel yard.
Schnitzer Steel returned the arm last Friday, after parks workers confirmed it belonged to Lady Liberty. It wasn't clear how the arm got into the scrap yard.
Janet Clark, a buyer at Schnitzer, said workers remembered seeing the arm following media reports of its disappearance. Workers found it Friday.
Clark said she didn't know exactly how much was paid for the recycled arm. – The Spokesman-Review.
