Stainless Steel Midwest (SSMW), a La Grange, Kentucky-based recycler of stainless steel and nickel-based alloys, has acquired Houston-based Allied Alloys LP, which will continue to operate under its current name and brand.

“I am pleased to grow Stainless Steel Midwest with the addition of Allied Alloys,” SSMW President Steve Jones says. “Our companies have had a long business relationship, and this agreement stems from our combined desire to grow our companies for our employees, suppliers and customers.”

Founded in 2006, Allied Alloys produces approximately 10,000 metric tons (11,023.11 tons) of recycled metals per month. The company purchases scrap from North and South America and sells to more than 20 countries across Europe, Asia and Latin America.

“Today marks a pivotal moment in our journey as we forge ahead in the realm of metal recycling,” says Andy Mitch Greenberg, founder and partner at Allied Alloys. “This acquisition symbolizes not just a union of two companies but a fusion of our shared commitment to sustainability and innovation. Together, we will amplify our impact and reshape the landscape of recycling to pave the way for a greener, more sustainable future.”

Allied Alloys CEO Nidhi Turakhia says “collaboration and expanding [Allied Alloys’] market share [and] footprint” are the goals behind this expansion.

“Today is a testament to the enduring legacy Allied Alloys has built,” she says. “As we join forces with Stainless Steel Midwest, we are poised to shape a new chapter, blending our expertise in metal recycling with their vision for a greener tomorrow. Together, we'll reshape the landscape of sustainability, one recycled metal at a time."

Both companies say they are committed to ensuring a smooth transition for employees, customers and stakeholders.

“By joining forces with SSMW, the combined companies will gain access to resources and expertise while expanding market reach to further enhance our ability to innovate and drive growth,” Allied Alloys President Mukesh Turakhia says.
