In its recently released BIR World Mirror, Sandro Giuliani, chairman of the Stainless Steel & Special Alloys Committee, as well as a top executive with Giuliani Metalli, writes that despite some volatility in the market, overall trends seem to be showing an improved environment for many of these metals.
Global stainless steel production is forecasted to climb by 8 percent;
For nickel, Giuliani notes that while prices have been very volatile, there is a persistent increase in demand for raw materials, resulting in higher prices.
The higher nickel prices is resulting in some companies looking at developing alternative materials to use.
