SSI Acquires Schred Max Line

Canadian primary reducer line to be known as Pri-Max.

SSI Shredding Systems Inc., Wilsonville, Ore., has acquired the Schred Max line of elevated primary reducers, based in Petrolia, Ontario, Canada. The brand name for the new combined line of equipment is Pri-Max.

“The acquisition allows us to offer a complete spectrum of primary and secondary reduction equipment,” says SSI director of sales and marketing Terri Ward. “It also positions us to better serve the growing need on the East Coast for the volume reduction and recycling of solid waste and C&D materials.”

John Dorscht, former president of Schred Max, who will remain in charge of sales of the Pri-Max line, says his pool of customers has been using primary reduction shredders to either supplement or replace their high-speed equipment. “They need a way to pre-process material reliably and economically day after day,” he remarks. “That’s where the primary reduction equipment comes in.”

Although the initial Schred Max machines were smaller models, Dorscht says his customers have tended to start small and grow, scaling up their equipment as their businesses grow.

SSI and Schred-Max had previously worked together in cross-referral situations, and both Ward and Dorscht say this next step of joining forces is a logical one. “I look forward to bringing Pri-Max customers the same high level, personal service I gave to my Schred Max customers,” says Dorscht.
