Sims Recycling Solutions (SRS) has announced that its Tucson, Ariz., electronics scrap recycling facility has become the seventh SRS facility in North America to achieve OHSAS 18001 certification.
OHSAS 18001 is an international occupational health and safety management system standard that is designed to enable an organization to control its health and safety risks and improve its performance. OHSAS 18001 certification is the result of an audited-verification of the organization’s management system to achieve those goals.
Bill Vasquez, SRS general manager, western region, says, “We are proud of our latest OHSAS certification. It reaffirms Sims’ commitment to a safe and healthy working environment.”
In a press release, Sims also notes that earlier this year the business journal Inside Tucson Business named the company the top recycling firm in the Tucson area.
In North America, Sims Recycling Solutions operates 12 sites in Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, Ontario, South Carolina and Tennessee.
