SRS Seeks to Break World Record

SRS locations in six cities will participate in the one-day event to recycle the most electronics across multiple locations.

Sims Recycling Solutions (SRS), with North American headquarters in Chicago, has announced that it will be holding a number of collection events throughout April in celebration of Earth Day, April 22, 2012.

Branded as Earth Day events, these collections will take place in the United States, Austria, Belgium, England, Germany, Scotland, South Africa, Sweden, and the Netherlands. In the U.S., California, Illinois, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee and Texas will participate. In addition, five of these locations will attempt to break a Guinness World Record for the "most consumer electronics recycled within 24 hours - multiple locations."

“As a global company, SRS has the capability to substantially reduce the negative environmental impacts of end-of-life electronics and is doing so by offering community collection and recycling services all over the world,” says Steve Skurnac, president, SRS, Americas. “This campaign will run throughout the month of April to reinforce our belief that Earth Day should not be limited to one day. Every day is Earth Day for Sims.

“We encourage everyone who has access to one of these collection events to protect the environment by safely and responsibly recycling their electronic waste,” Skurnac continues. “For those who have access to one of the sites attempting to break a world record, we hope they join us in our effort to achieve an environmental milestone.”
