Sims Recycling Solutions recently announced the acquisition of Metrade Handelsgesellschaft mbH and its subsidiary company, Metwork Aufbereitungs GmbH. The companies, headquartered in Austria, are involved in electronics recycling services throughout Eastern Europe.
In announcing the purchase, SRS notes that Metrade’s location will give the company better access to conducting business in countries such as Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia.
Marc Faller, SRS’ director of European Business Development, says, “We are very happy to welcome Metrade and Metwork to Sims. Our Bergkamen operation in Germany has had a good working relationship with Metrade for a number of years, and this will enable us to integrate the businesses swiftly and smoothly. Metwork is a leader in the highly competitive Austrian WEEE market and has made excellent headway in the fast growing blue chip industries of Eastern Europe. This is a good opportunity for Sims Recycling Solutions.”
Metrade was founded by Friedrich Seidl in 2004 as a nonferrous metals trading company. In 2007, Metwork was formed to focus on electronics recycling.
In discussing the acquisition, Seidl says, “This is an exciting prospect for the Metrade and Metwork businesses. Sims Metal Management is the world’s leading metals and electronics recycling company and with that comes a powerful international reputation. Becoming part of Sims Metal Management will allow us to strengthen ties with our blue chip clients while Sims Recycling Solutions’ advanced separation technologies will enhance our service offering to all our customers.”
