Sims Recycling Solutions (SRS), a global leader in electronics reuse and recycling with North American headquarters in Chicago, has announced the U.S. Department of Defense has agreed to renew a five-year continuation of service contract with the company. SRS has been the sole provider of electronic demanufacturing services for the Department of Defense for 13 years, the company says.
“Sims Recycling Solutions is proud to provide this service to the Department of Defense and to continue our support of the men and women serving in all branches of the Unites States Armed Forces,” says Steve Skurnac, president, SRS, Americas. “We will continue to stay at the forefront of improving electronics recycling processes and investing in leading separation technology in an effort to provide the most data secure and environmentally responsible options for disposal.”
The Department of Defense based this decision on the company’s “excellent” rating in overall past performance, which included security protocols and environmental standards, according to SRS.
SRS owns and operates 50 sites across the globe. In North America, the company operates 14 sites in Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, New Jersey, Ontario, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
