Sims Recycling Solutions (SRS) , with North American headquarters in Chicago, has achieved Responsible Recycling Practices for Electronics Recyclers (R2) certification for its Tucson, Ariz., electronics recycling facility.
The R2 standard is supported by electronic OEMs, the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI), the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), public interest groups, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and a number of U.S. state and local governments.
R2 is a set of voluntary standard governing environmental, worker health and safety and security practices at electronics recycling operations.
“We are proud to have our Tucson facility certified to the Responsible Recycler, or R2, standard,” says Steve Skurnac, president of SRS North America. “Tucson and the surrounding areas are concerned about sustainability, the environment and responsible recycling. We are happy to be able to provide the local businesses and communities with recycling services up to the world-class standards of Sims Recycling Solutions and the R2 certification.”
