West Chicago, Illinois-based Sims Recycling Solutions, a global leader in IT asset reuse and recycling, has announced that it has been certified to the e-Stewards 2.0 Standard at all of its U.S. facilities. In adherence to the standard, Sims says it continues its commitment to process electronic devices in a manner that protects customer data and provides the greatest assurances in environmental and social responsibility.
“This certification upgrade demonstrates Sims’ commitment to providing our customers the assurance that their material is handled with integrity and full accountability,” says Steve Skurnac, president of Sims Recycling Solutions. “This keeps the company at the forefront of industry shifts and signals to enterprises that we are constantly striving to improve our services.”
Sims’ North American facilities were e-Stewards certified in early 2014 and also retain a number of other health, safety and environmental certifications, including the Responsible Recycling Practices (R2) Standard, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
The nine SRS facilities are located in Roseville, Hayward and Los Angeles, California; West Chicago and Franklin Park, Illinois; Baltimore; Tampa, Florida; Nashville, Tennessee; and Tucson, Arizona.
SRS also has a seat on the e-Stewards Leadership Council, the advisory body of the e-Stewards program made up of leading recyclers, NGOs, government associations and enterprises. The company also has updated its R2 certification from R2:2008 to R2:2013. The company adds that it also is always looking for new environmental and/or data security certifications to obtain as well.
Three members of SRS's management team also recently received the Certification in IT Asset Disposition (CITAD) certification.
Additionally, SRS provides disposition services for all types of retired electronic equipment to local, national and global customers in every business sector, including data centers, health care, financial service and technical organizations.
