According to an email from Kim Holmes, senior director of recycling and diversion at SPI, Washington, the organization’s Resin Identification Code (RIC) workgroup is drafting comments on the ballot being proposed to modify the ASTM International D7611 standard governing the Resin Identification Code. SPI invites its members to help SPI prepare and review the comments it will submit to ASTM Jan. 22, 2016.
“This is an opportunity for SPI members to submit their own comments that will potentially shape the language of the ballot that ASTM members will be asked to vote on in February,” Holmes writes. “It’s also a chance for the plastics industry to weigh in on the future of the RIC and adjust it to better suit the needs of recyclers and users of recycled plastics.”
Those who want to contribute their comments should contact Holmes at kholmes@plasticsindustry.org.
The SPI RIC workgroup group would like to finalize review of comments by Jan. 21, submitting them to ASTM on Jan. 22.
