SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association, Washington, has announced that it secured space, South Hall-7888, for a recycling- and membership-focused exhibit at the upcoming Pack Expo, Sept. 28-30, 2015, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas. 2015 marks the 20th anniversary of Pack Expo.
SPI also will hold a press conference at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, to release a preview of its exclusive report, “Plastics Market Watch: Plastics in Packaging.” The report is the third in a series of publications analyzing plastics’ role in various end markets. The press conference will be in press briefing room S-226.
“As the leading trade association representing the third largest manufacturing sector, SPI continues its mission to advance plastics innovation and to position plastics as the material of choice at Pack Expo Las Vegas,” says William R. Carteaux, SPI president and CEO. “SPI’s efforts to educate the industry about the benefits of plastics sustainability will be central to our booth, which will house other information about SPI’s programs and member benefits. Participation in Pack Expo is one approach SPI uses in its ongoing strategy to remain in contact with all facets of the plastics manufacturing supply chain.”
Jim Pittas, senior vice president of the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies (PMMI), the organization that produces Pack Expo, says, “The professional organizations that represent our attendees understand the value of the shows. They see how being at Pack Expo Las Vegas strengthens industry connections that support their own organizations’ missions and goals and creates more opportunities for innovation across industry segments.”
SPI staff, including Patty Long, senior vice president of industry affairs, and Kyra Mumbauer, senior director of global regulatory affairs, are the featured speakers at the press conference. They will discuss “Plastics Market Watch: Plastics in Packaging,” SPI’s first market assessment report on packaging that covers the history and scope of the industry, the utility of plastics packaging compared with other materials, advances in technology, demographic and lifestyle trends that will impact future markets, the environmental concerns that are spurring greater focus on recycling and other related issues, the organization says.
The Plastics Market Watch series looks at the consumer’s impact on the business of plastics, including demographics, economics, policy developments and technological improvements for markets including automotive and transportation, health care, packaging and housing and construction.
