SPI announces newly elected board

James Murphy, president and CEO of Davis-Standard LLC, will serve as the association’s board chairman through December 2017.

SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association, Washington, has announced a slate of newly elected board members to include Chairman-elect James Murphy, president and CEO of Davis-Standard LLC. Murphy’s term as SPI board chairman runs through December 2017.

“SPI members lead the entire plastics supply chain’s innovation in sustainability, technology and manufacturing,” says William R. Carteaux, SPI president and CEO. “I’m truly honored to announce the new officers who will work alongside SPI leadership as we continue to advance plastics and educate consumers and lawmakers.”

Murphy, who served as chairman of NPE2015: The International Plastics Showcase, held in Orlando, Florida, in late March 2015, has held leadership roles in sales and engineering management during his 25-year career at Davis-Standard, Pawcatuck, Connecticut. He holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of Akron and an MBA from Kent State University.

“Working with the SPI and NPE teams has been a highlight of my fulfilling career in plastics manufacturing. It’s an honor to serve in any capacity that advances plastics manufacturing and the 940,000 employees who are the backbone of the industry,” says Murphy. “I look forward to working closely with president and CEO Bill Carteaux as well as the other officers in leading SPI into a positive future that promotes growth of the $427 billion industry.”

  • Immediate Past Chairman Fred Daniell, Kureha America Inc.
 
The officers’ terms expire Dec. 31, 2016.
