Agbar Automotive, the motor vehicle services arm of Spanish utility group Aguas de Barcelona, has signed an agreement with the Spanish associations of car makers, importers and scrap companies to develop systems for handling and recycling automobiles. The project, the first in Spain on a national level that involves those responsible for the design, production, sale and recycling of motors, will enable joint strategies to be developed.
The aim of the project is to make better use of vehicle parts in order to cut costs and protect the environment. Another aim is to meet the target set by Brussels and the Spanish government for 85 percent of out of use cars to be recycled in 2006, a figure that is expected to increase to 95 percent by 2015.
