Spaleck USA, headquartered in Loudon, New Hampshire, has added a new parts warehouse and assembly shop in Mackinaw, Illinois, which is near Peoria, Illinois. The parts warehouse measures 8,000 square feet, while the assembly shop totals 32,000 square feet. Five people are employed in the assembly shop.
“We chose Mackinaw (Peoria) largely because of our strategic cooperation with U.S. Conveyor since 2016 but also because of its central location in an area steeped in engineering tradition,” says Martin Hurson, Spaleck USA sales director for the western and central U.S. “The assembly facility is the result of our close and successful cooperation on the metals and recycling markets.”
Hurson says Spaleck, which is based in Germany, has been expanding its production footprint outside of that country in recent years. “Close proximity to our North American customer base was core to our business development strategy,” he says. With the expansion, Spaleck USA is able to supply German designed separation and conveying technology that is made in America.
From the parts warehouse, Spaleck USA is able to supply stock items, such as feeders and boxes, within a week, Hurson says. “We stock all critical and fast-moving parts, including screening media. We have incorporated locally sourced parts successfully into the assembly build to further reduce dispatch times on aftermarket parts.”

He adds that the facility can assemble the full range of Spaleck screen boxes and feeders that were previously imported from Germany. “Considerable investment has been made in testing rigs and to ensure rigorous testing before factory sign-off and dispatch to customers,” Hurson adds.
The investment shows Spaleck’s confidence in the metals recovery and recycling markets in the long term, he says.
