The planned shut-downs will result in approximately 25,000 metric tons of reduced newsprint production. The specific downtime taken at each mill will be determined based on manufacturing and delivery costs at the time. Additional downtime will be taken throughout the year as required by market conditions. SP Newsprint will maintain adequate inventories to ensure that its customers will not experience any service interruptions during the shut-downs, the company says.
