SP Newsprint announced plans to invest $20 million in a project that will improve the productivity at its East Dublin, Ga., recycled newsprint mill.
The largest part of the project is a new state-of-the-art "drum pulper" that will update the technology.
"This is the largest expenditure since we rebuilt our Number 2 paper machine in 1998 as part of a $25 million project," mill manager Jack Carter said in the statement. "Upgrading pulping operations at the mill is a critical step toward maintaining the viability of our business and in continuing to help support the local economy."
