The South Carolina Department of Commerce and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) have launched the Recycling Markets Directory, a free online recycling tool to create a network for recyclables. The collaborative resource is designed to connect companies generating recyclables with other organizations that can use the materials.
The platform showcases more than 300 South Carolina recycling companies, and it allows manufacturers to find recyclers in the area.
"Recycling is a green growth industry in South Carolina," says South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt. "This tool provides the essential links between businesses and industries searching for markets for recyclables and can help companies save money, improve supply chain resilience and generate value through reusable materials."
Users can search the Recycling Markets Directory by category, service area or keywords. Searches are downloadable and include company contact information.
"Recycling will not work without markets," says Myra Reece, director of environmental affairs at DHEC. "This directory is an integral tool for businesses, local governments and others that provides a listing of recyclers and companies that need these materials to manufacture recycled-content products."
