The Sorensen Paperboard Corporation, a paper mill located in Palmyra, Mich., has closed after doing business for more than 12 years.
The paper mill has operated at the facility for decades under various management. The most recent owner, Merritt Sorensen of Tecumseh, owned it on two separate occasions.
David Munson, president and chief executive officer of the Lenawee County Chamber of Commerce, said one of the plant's previous owners was Big M Paperboard, which he said purchased the plant in 1984 and sold it a few years later to Sorensen.
Under Sorensen's ownership, the company took in recyclable paper items and manufactured heavyweight paper, cardboard and paperboard that was shipped to customers nationwide, said one of the plant's former employees, Bradley Wymer of Adrian. Daily Telegram
