Sonoco Products’ subsidiary, Paper Stock Dealers, Inc., has completed the purchase of certain Republic Fiber Company operations from Republic Paperboard Company, LLC. The purchase includes recycling operations in Kansas City, Mo. and Topeka, Kan., and a recovered paper trucking operation in Manhattan, Kan.
"We are pleased to add these Republic Fiber Company operations and employees to Sonoco's recovered paper organization," according to Jim Hines, vice president-Recovered Paper, Sonoco. "These complementary businesses will help supply high quality recovered fiber to our paper mill in Hutchinson, Kan., as well as to our customers in the paper industry," said Hines.
The Kansas City location is being closed and its operations transferred to the Topeka processing facility.
