Sonoco Recycling honors North Carolina city for recycling achievements

Durham, N.C., collects more than 1,000 tons of recyclables per month.

Sonoco Recycling LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of the packaging company Sonoco, headquartered in Hartsville, S.C., has named the city of Durham, N.C., a bronze-tier Sonoco Sustainability Star Award winner for significant recycling achievements. The city was recently named a Top 10 Recycling Community by Energy Digital http://www.energydigital.com/.

Rodger Fuller, group vice president of Sonoco Recycling, says, "This is the fourth time the City of Durham has been recognized for its recycling programs as a top recycling community. We're honored to have helped them reach this milestone in their recycling journey and are pleased to present them with a much-deserved sustainability star award."

Currently, Sonoco Recycling processes more than 1,000 tons per month of material from Durham. Additionally, the city sponsors between three-four electronic scrap and shredding events each year.
