Sonoco-Alcore to hike board prices in Europe

Price hike will go into effect with shipments starting 17 October 2016.

Sonoco-Alcore S.a.r.l.,  Brussels, a part of South Carolina-based Sonoco, has announced plans to raise prices on all of its recycled paperboard grades by €40 per tonne ($45) in the company’s Nordic, Central European and Greek regions. The change is effective with shipments beginning 17 October 2016.

“This price increase is in response to the continuing rise of raw material costs, which are now at the point where we need to pass on to the market,” says Phil Woolley, Sonoco director of paper for Europe. “We are experiencing this effect across all European countries and follows on from the previously announced increase in the U.K. in August.”

Sonoco-Alcore operates 29 tubes and cores plants and four paperboard mills in Europe, including the company’s largest European uncoated recycled paperboard mill in Cirie, Italy.
