The Traverse City (Michigan) Record Eagle reports that Solon Township was forced to delay a recycling contract with Leelanau County at the township’s Cedar recycling facility for several weeks.
The township submitted a request to the county for about $25,000 and for $3,000 from American Waste to fund improvements to the facility, including a 1,9000-square-foot concrete pad and fencing. Now the township is requesting security cameras and lighting, which may stall or prevent the contract, the article says.
“It’s my belief Solon Township is on board and ready to go,” Junior Trustee Ron Novak told the newspaper. “It’s my belief that these little errors will be fixed, and [the contract] will be back to our next meeting.”
“I think the Solon Township board is being unreasonable,” County Solid Waste Council Chairman Bill Perkins said in the article. “They baffle me.”
