Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. has announced its decision to discontinue operations at its Braintree, Mass., sheet plant. The plant manufactured various corrugated packaging products.
The company made the determination to discontinue operations at Braintree due to depressed economic conditions and market pressures.
The company plans to gradually transfer production to the nearby Mansfield, Mass., sheet plant over a three-month period. The Braintree plant will complete final operations by mid-March, and the facility will be permanently shuttered by the end of March.
