The paper recycling firm Smurfit Kappa Recycling has named Lucy Russell its new security shredding manager. In this position, Russell will handle the company’s confidential waste services to customers throughout the United Kingdom.
Before joining Smurfit Kappa Security Shredding, Russell worked in the sales and finance departments of Mondi Packaging Diss, a corrugated box plant in Norfolk, U.K., which was acquired by the Smurfit Kappa Group in May 2010.
Smurfit Kappa Security Shredding says it complies with industry standards developed by the British Security Industry Association and the United Kingdom Security Shredding Association.
“Any company which has not taken responsible steps to destroy such material securely is putting itself at risk of fraud and could face a heavy fine. The consequences could cause significant embarrassment and damage to a company’s reputation,” says Russell, who is offering free compliance audits throughout 2011.
Smurfit Kappa Recycling, a part of Smurfit Kappa Group, provides paper recycling services throughout the U.K. In addition to operating a network of recycling collection centers, the company operates paper mills in Birmingham and Kent, U.K., which recycle around 500,000 metric tons of recovered fiber per year.
