Two large European-based forest products concerns, Smurfit Kappa Group and Mondi Group, have announced that they are in discussions about the possibility of trading assets.
The deal being discussed would involve Smurfit Kappa acquiring Mondi Group’s corrugated operations in the United Kingdom, while Mondi would take ownership of Smurfit Kappa’s paper bag converting operations throughout Europe.
Mondi Ltd. is an integrated packaging and business paper producer, which has operations in 35 countries. Smurfit Kappa is headquartered in Ireland, and operates throughout Europe.
