Fe Xchange Group LLC, a subsidiary of Burnham, Illinois-based Scrap Metal Services LLC (SMS), has announced that Stephen T. Miller has been hired as its manager of byproducts and foundry sales. Nanci Schuld, president of Fe Xchange Group LLC, made the announcement.
Miller is a 38-year veteran of the metals industry. He began his career as a ferrous scrap trader in Cleveland in 1976 with the scrap brokerage firm Luria Bros (which was subsequently acquired by PSC Metals).
In 1983, Miller became Cleveland area district manager for Pittsburgh-based Mindlin Co. From 1988 to 1994 he worked in several positions with Luntz Corp., then Metals Group (as its founder) and Tube City in Pittsburgh. In 1994, Miller founded Ferrosource, which in addition to scrap also specialized in alternative iron sourcing. In 1997 Ferrosource became the U.S. agent for the sale of pig iron produced at JSC Tulachermet in Russia.
“We’re excited to have Steve join our trading team as he has a solid reputation and has extensive trading experience, particularly in by-products and foundry sales,” says Schuld. “His addition will expand our company’s trading opportunities for additional growth.”
“I have followed SMS’s strategic growth and success over the last several years and I believe that I can meaningfully contribute,” says Miller.
Fe Xchange Group LLC provides trading, brokerage and logistic services for scrap processors, demolition companies and the metalworking industry.
SMS, in addition to owning Fe Xchange, operates scrap processing, steel mill services, ship dismantlement and recycling, intermodal/truck/railcar dismantling facilities and auto salvage operations throughout the United States. SMS has 23 operations in the United States and two operations in Mexico.
