SK Tes, an information technology asset disposition (ITAD) and electronics recycling company that is part of South Korea-based SK Ecoplant, has announced that both of its United Kingdom sites in Cannock, West Midlands, and Irvine, Scotland, have received accreditation to the Sanitisation Assurance (CAS-S) scheme by the U.K.’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) for its secure on-site shredding service.

The company says the dual-site accreditation will enable it to deliver secure data destruction and sanitization services nationwide from its two locations, supporting clients across the entirety of the U.K.

SK Tes notes that the CAS-S scheme certifies commercial ITAD providers to rigorous government standards, ensuring central government customers easily can access services that fully comply with NCSC requirements. With this certification, SK Tes says it is authorized to provide:

  • Mobile destruction services up to “Secret”: Devices are destroyed at the client’s premises, ensuring sensitive information never leaves the organization’s custody.
  • Onsite destruction services in Cannock and Irvine up to “Official”: Secure destruction of data-bearing devices at a secure facility, suitable for highly sensitive data.
  • Onsite and offsite sanitization for reuse and up to “Official”: Devices can be sanitized for secure reuse, either at client sites or at SK Tes’ accredited facilities.

SK Tes says secure sanitization services cover a comprehensive range of media types, including hard disk drives; solid state drives; memory chips such as SRAM and DRAM; flash-based media including USB drives, SD micro and SD cards; magnetic media like floppy disks; and optical media such as CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays.

SK Tes says its range of services allows clients to choose the most appropriate solution for their security, compliance and operational needs. The company adds that its self-contained shredding vehicles and trained professionals deliver services with minimal disruption, allowing clients to observe the process and receive immediate certification of destruction. Offsite services are performed at accredited facilities, ensuring high standards of security and compliance are maintained throughout.

CAS-S accreditation provides assurance that SK Tes’ on-site shredding service meets the U.K.’s highest standards for data destruction, the company says, adding that government and enterprise clients benefit from enhanced security, compliance with central government information asset policy and the ability to witness the destruction process firsthand.

“This accreditation is a testament to our team’s dedication to security and compliance,” says Gordon Cripps, U.K. general manager at SK Tes. “We are proud to offer government and enterprise clients a comprehensive suite of data destruction and sanitization services that meet the U.K.’s highest standards, delivered from both our Cannock and Irvine sites, as well as through our mobile solutions.”
