Citiraya Industries Ltd invested $65 million to build a plant in China. The facility will be able to recycle IT waste, including used computer screens, main boards, chips, handsets and TV sets.
The facility is expected to be complete by the end of this year.
The plant will be able to handle as much as 60,000 tons of waste a year. The company is also establishing a recycling network in several major Chinese cities.
"Before our entry into the domestic market, the used electronics recycling industry was almost a blank paper," said Yang Qinhua, deputy general manager at Citiraya Industries (China) Ltd.
