Sims Metal Management (SMM), New York, has announced that it has been listed as one of the Global Top 100 Most Sustainable Corporations for the third year in a row. The list was compiled by the sustainable business publication Corporate Knights.
SMM moved up 10 spots to number 63 from the 2010 list.
Dan Dienst, SMM CEO, says, “It is a great honor to be included for the third year on the Global Top 100 Most Sustainable Corporations list, particularly as the only recycling company recognized. Every facility manager, regional president or general manager has a responsibility not only to the company and employees but also to the communities in which we operate.”
The Global Top 100 Most Sustainable Corporations list is designed to identify companies that consistently demonstrate superior leadership and performance on a range of environmental, social and governance policies relative to their industry peers.
Other criteria used in compiling the list include ethical and responsible decision making; recognizing the interests of stakeholders; respecting the rights of shareholders; and communication with customers, investors, regulators and policymakers.
