Sims Group Ltd. is relocating its non ferrous metals global trading team to Hong Kong. The move will go into effect May 1, 2007.
Jeremy Sutcliffe, Sims’ chief executive said, "This move will bring together the management and trading expertise of our Sydney based trading team and senior members of our regional Shanghai office, collectively under the direction and supervision of Michael Lion. It will position Sims at the heart of its most important market for non ferrous metals, most notably Southern China, and will also be within close proximity to other vital Chinese and North and South Asian markets and customers."
The team will continue to operate under the trading name Sims International, which was expanded in 2003 to centralize Sims Group’s global non ferrous marketing and third party international trading of non ferrous metals and non ferrous shredder residue.
Along with Lion, other people relocating to the new office include the following: Darrell Wong, Vice President, Sims International; Zhang Feng, previously the chief representative of Sims' Shanghai office; and Patrick Mok.
The rest of Sims’ Sydney based trading team, Jack Brown, Nick Battistella and Graeme Cameron will progressively be relocating to Hong Kong over the coming months.
