Sims Mirec, the Sims Group company dedicated to electronics recycling, is moving its operating in Sweden to Norrköping’s northern port area.
"We are implementing an extensive investment program, and a part of that is moving into larger premises. The recycling market has steadily increased, and with the help of our new location, we will further increase our competitiveness," says Håkan Schede, MD of Sims Mirec.
Sims Mirec has developed positively over the past few years. The company has increased capacity and reinforced its level of competence to enable management of additional electronic waste. Sims Mirec manages around 15,000 metric tons at the facility a year.
Increased environmental awareness and knowledge of EU’s WEEE Directive have to a large extent contributed to several new large contracts. To grow its business the company is looking at increasing its capacity and implementing new processes.
At its new location, the company will become part of a modern and quickly growing logistics center. Additionally, close proximity to European motorways, railways and the port will allow for significant improvement in the cost efficiency of operations.
"We will begin establishing ourselves in our new premises in August, 2006, and expect operations to have gradually been moved by the turn of the year 2006-2007," Schede adds.
