Sims Lifecycle Poland location offers refurbished computers to students

Electronics recycling firm’s Bydgoszcz, Poland, location is partnering with schools to offer refurbished devices.

The Bydgoszcz, Poland, location of United States-based Sims Lifecycle Services (SLS) says it is now offering refurbished computers to educational Institutions in Poland. The provider of IT asset disposition (ITAD) service says it is partnering with local schools and educational institutions by offering used IT equipment under a program called Device.

The company says in Poland, with COVID-19 causing many schools to adopt distance learning programs in which every student must learn using a computer or laptop, the available market for computing devices has been disrupted. “The Device program is helping bridge the gap by providing alternative sources for obtaining student IT equipment,” states SLS.

“Sims Lifecycle Services is committed to extending the usable life of electronic devices and providing access to affordable technology,” says Jelle Slenters, head of business development for SLS, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa). “I am pleased we are able to support schools with our services as it not only supports IT circularity, but it also offers the benefit of enabling students the access they need to continue their education.”

SLS says it has been a Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher (MAR) since 2012, and thus is able to “add value to used laptops and desktops by installing a licensed Windows operating system.” By being able to add the Microsoft Windows operating system on a PC or laptop, SLS says it can “significantly increase the overall value and remarketability of these assets” so that “educational institutions can be confident that purchased computers from Device will meet their needs.”
