Sims Metals announced that it is reorganizing the company’s global trading and marketing of its nonferrous metals.
Beginning Sept. 1, Sims’ entire international non-ferrous sales and brokerage operations will be undertaken by a centralized marketing entity operating through the company’s head office in Sydney, Australia.
According to Jeremy Sutcliffe, Sims Metals’ chief executive, Global coordination will enable Sims to provide unrivaled support to our worldwide consumers and other trading partners in these times of scarce and inconsistent scrap supply. This will be achieved through a matrix of benefits, including continuity of raw material sourcing, quality and performance dependability, and flexibility on both spot and long term supply contracts.
Sims is one of the largest metals recycling companies in the world. It has operations in Australia, New Zealand, North America and the United Kingdom. Additionally, Sims International actively trades in North and Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East, Continental Europe, Africa and South America.
Michael Lion, president of Lion Consulting Inc, will coordinate operations of the new centralized marketing entity. Lion has been acting as an exclusive consultant to Sims Group USA for the last two years and is now retained in this role for the entire Sims Group.
