Sierra Offering Line of Cranes

Wheeled material handlers will be targeted to scrap market.

Sierra International Machinery LLC, Bakersfield, Calif., is now marketing a line of hard rubber-tire cranes. “There are three models to choose from, with boom reaches from 27 to 46 feet,” says Sierra president John Sacco.

The wheeled material handlers are fabricated in Italy and powered by Cummins diesel engines, but will be marketed in the U.S. under the Sierra brand name and serviced by Sierra. “Sierra has always been known for high-quality machinery with unparalleled service, and that tradition is continued with these cranes,” says Sacco.

The Sierra scrap handlers will have soundproof cabs with heaters, hydraulic lifts, puncture-proof tires, stabilizers and five-tine orange peel grapples with rotation capabilities. “Additionally, all of the models have a front blade, rear wheel drive and options including a magnet/generator package, four-wheel drive and/or air conditioning in the cab,” says Sacco.

Another benefit of the new Sierra Cranes, according to Sacco, is the visibility that the operator has while operating the machine because of the cab-lifting capabilities. “This high visibility offered to the operator makes avoiding accidents and unwanted materials a simple task,” Sacco comments.

Sacco adds that the company is “very excited with the response towards the new cranes” thus far, and says he is confident that Sierra can “offer customers the best products in their class.”

Sierra Crane sizes will range from the 40,000 to the 82,000-pound weight classes, and will be marketed toward scrap recyclers unloading trucks, feeding processing machinery, loading railcars and performing the combination of those tasks.

The cranes that have already been delivered to customers and are currently in use are performing exceptionally, says Sacco, adding, “These cranes have a high level of practicality in any recycling yard as they can do a variety of tasks.”

Sierra will stock inventory of cranes and parts in Bakersfield as well at regional stocking centers in Houston and cities further east as needed.
