Hilchenbach, Germany-based Sicon GmbH will represent Germany at the European Business Awards in the “Environmental & Corporate Sustainability” category. Nominees from throughout Europe will be recognized in 10 different disciplines during an award ceremony that will take place in June 2016.
The European Business Awards have been created with the objective of promoting business innovations that line up with ethical and ecological goals. More than 32,000 entrants from 33 countries have submitted applications, with the selected nominees announced in early September 2015.
Sicon GmbH, whose customers are primarily scrap processors and operators of sorting plants, says it sees its main objective as recycling generated scrap as effectively as possible, with the long-term objective of establishing a zero-waste recycling chain.
The task Sicon GmbH has set for itself includes making the necessary scrap recycling processes more efficient, conserving resources and thus operating an effective form of “commercial environmental protection,” according to a news release distributed by the firm.
Among the technologies introduced by Sicon are:
- the EcoShred Compact and the AirTuning dust removal unit, which combined can perform “environmentally compatible” scrap processing; and
- ScrapTuning for the steel industry, designed to increase the effectiveness of steel mills and significantly decrease the output of waste slag.
