“When I decided to start this franchise I wanted to make sure that the company upheld the highest standards in the industry so our customers would know that we were a company they could trust,” Jones says. “This designation proves to our customers that they can rely on us for secure document destruction.”
Although all information destruction providers are eligible for NAID membership, those with the AAA certification must meet strict criteria, the report says. The provider must commit significant resources to ensure the security of the information that they handle on behalf of their customers and complete the NAID Certification Program.
The certification process requires that all employees undergo background investigations, receive comprehensive security training and that operational procedures and physical facilities incorporate many security safeguards.
The NAID Certification Program establishes standards for a secure destruction process, including such areas as operational security, employee hiring and screening, the destruction process, responsible disposal and insurance. Further, NAID certification requires an initial third party operational audit by a security professional with the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) accreditation from the American Society for Industrial Security.
The certification must be renewed annually, and all certified members receive a certificate and are listed on the NAID Web site, www.naidonline.org, as certified providers.
