The Anderson Federal Credit Union (AFCU) in Anderson, S.C., is hosting a free Shred Day on Thursday, January 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Representatives from secure shredding firm Shred 360 will be on location to accept paper documents while personnel from Total Product Destruction will be accepting electronic equipment for destruction, including monitors, keyboards, printers CDs and DVDs.
AFCU employees will be available to answer questions and distribute brochures about identity theft. The event is described in a news release from the three companies as a way “to keep the public informed on protecting their identity.”
The release continues, “Identity theft is often a problem when people simply throw their confidential documents or media away instead of having them securely shredded or destroyed.”
