Boston-based Shamrock Trading LLC has announced a partnership with Graham Waste Services to provide collection and hauling services to clients requiring construction site waste management and recycling capabilities under the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) guidelines.
“The partnership will specialize in managing commodities from clients’ waste streams, including metal, paper, plastics, cardboard, e-waste, organics, bottles and cans, pallets, and other source separated materials,” says a news release from Shamrock Trading.
“We feel that our 30 years of providing collection and hauling services to clients in Eastern Massachusetts, combined with Shamrock’s ability to move commodities directly to end use markets, would provide added economic benefits to our existing client base as well as allow for significant growth as the LEED program develops,” says Rob Schwandt, president of Graham Waste, which is based in Cohasset, Mass.
Prospective clients include general contractors, property owners, property managers, and municipalities seeking to meet the LEED New Construction and LEED Existing Building Management guidelines, according to the two companies. “The partnership will also assist local processors in moving separated materials to both domestic and foreign end use markets via rail transport, tractor trailer operations, and export container services,” states the Shamrock news release.
“New environmental guidelines such as the LEED program, as well as the volatile prices of recyclable materials, have evolved the waste business from simple disposal, to the more complicated brokerage of the actual commodities which make up the waste stream,” says Michael FitzPatrick, president of Shamrock.
Adds FitzPatrick, “This creates problems for generators and haulers when handling the materials, finding markets for the commodities, monitoring compliance and budgeting costs. Shamrock has the experience and infrastructure required to navigate the global commodity markets. We are very excited to enter this partnership with Graham Waste, which not only has strategic assets to uniquely support these types of services, but also has a strong service record with its clients here in the Northeast.”
Shamrock Trading LLC describes itself as a global commodity trading firm that provides clients with brokerage and advisory services to manage the commodities from their waste streams.
