Severstal North America, a Dearborn, Mich.-based subsidiary of OAO Severstal, Moscow, has named Wilbur Winland vice president and general manager of Severstal Columbus (Mississippi). He replaces John Bell, who had been serving as vice president and GM on an interim basis. Bell will resume his responsibilities as vice president of Operations, Severstal Columbus.
Winland rejoins Severstal North America from RG Steel. Prior to that, he held senior management positions with Severstal North America, including being responsible for operations at Mountain State Carbon LLC, and serving as vice president and GM of Severstal Warren and Wheeling.
In a release, Sergei Kuznetsov, CEO of Severstal North America, says, “We are delighted to have Wilbur back on our team. He has proven over the years to be a valuable and experienced member of our organization. In addition, I want to acknowledge John’s leadership and commitment during the transition. There are tremendous opportunities ahead for Columbus as we move towards completion of Phase II expansion and creating a world-class mini-mill operation. We believe they will do an outstanding job of spearheading the Columbus team through this period of growth and transformation.”
