The Russia-based steel producer Severstal has appointed Saikat Dey CEO of its Severstal North America (SNA) subsidiary. The subsidiary, based in Dearborn, Mich., is a flat rolled steel producer. Dey replaces Sergei Kuznetsov, who leaves the position after four years as CEO.
In a press release, Alexey Mordashov, CEO of OAO Severstal, says, "The new leadership of Severstal North America will remain committed toward increasing efficiencies, lowering costs and achieving competitive advantages in the North American market.”
Dey most recently served as SNA’s chief strategy and procurement officer. He was responsible for driving the company’s business strategies in North America, leading OAO Severstal’s expansion efforts in Asia and overseeing the purchasing function of SNA.
SNA operates a steel mill in Dearborn, Mich., and Columbus, Miss. Additionally, the company has three joint venture operations: Mountain States Carbon LLC, West Virginia; Double eagle steel Coating, Michigan; Spartan Steel Coating LLC, also located in Michigan.
