Severstal North America, Dearborn, Mich., has announced its new Push Pull Pickle Line (PPPL) is now operational at its Columbus, Miss., facility. According to Severstal North America, the PPPL line has an annual capacity of about 700,000 net tons of pickled and oiled products.
The company says the new line will allow it to expand its end-user market to include heavier gauge products.
“The new line provides our company with added pickled and oiled volume, enhanced operational efficiency and flexibility and an expanded product mix,” Wilbur Winland, Severstal Columbus vice president and general manager, says.
The $550 million Phase II expansion project at the Columbus plant, planned to be completed by the end of 2011, will increase annual steel production to 3.4 million net tons and double the Columbus plant’s galvanizing capacity.
