Seda Umwelttechnik GmbH of Austria will participate in the IFAT trade fair May 13-17 in Munich.

IFAT is the leading trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw material management where international visitors will be able to watch live demonstrations of the entire vehicle recycling process at Seda’s outdoor booth.

Seda also will provide detailed information on each stage of end-of-life vehicle handling and recycling.

The initial station involves preparing end-of-life vehicles for efficient processing. The information about a vehicle is recorded and managed using software, and the battery is removed, wheels dismantled and tires removed from the rims. The refrigerant is removed from the air conditioning system and pyrotechnic safety devices such as airbags and belt tensioners are triggered and deployed. Once the glass has been removed, the vehicle is prepared for draining, which takes place at a second station.

The company says it has developed special systems and devices that enable easy and efficient extraction of all fluids. That is followed by a dismantling station that features a tilting lift that enables simple and ergonomic work on vehicles. A fourth station features high-voltage solutions for electric vehicles. Seda solutions for storage, transport and recycling ensure maximum safety when it comes to handling electric vehicles and high-voltage energy storage systems, the company says.

Car flatteners and other machinery used at scrapyards will be demonstrated live at the show. The Zato Blue Devil twin-shaft shredder will be among the featured equipment and can easily process a complete vehicle, Seda says.
