Security Engineered Machinery (SEM),
The manual ME-P3M is ideal for in the field where power may not be available, according to SEM, and is compliant with National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Defense degaussing requirements.
In approximately 15 seconds, the ME-P3M quietly erases data from longitudinal magnetic recorded (LMR) and perpendicular magnetic recorded (PMR) hard disk drives with nominal coercivity ratings of up to 5,300 Oe and magnetic tapes with nominal coercivity ratings of up to 2,600 Oe, in accordance with NSA guidelines. The unit accommodates functioning and nonfunctioning floppy disks and most desktop and notebook hard drives, including 1.8-inch, 2.5-inch, and 3.5-inch (1 inch and 1.6 inches high) HDDs and Rev drives, as well as VHS, S-VHS, ½-inch (type 3480), DLT, LTO, QIC, DAT, 8mm, TRAVAN and AIT tape drives.
Permanent, high-energy rare-earth (NdFeB) magnets enable the ME-P3M to erase data and timing (servo track) information. The compact unit is suitable for rack mounting or for use in tight spaces and can be used continuously because it generates no heat.
Options include a mobile variable-height table and a field deployment kit.
The ME-P3M is being distributed in North America through a joint effort by Yamagata Fujitsu Ltd., a world leader in hard-drive technology, and SEM, a leading supplier of destruction equipment to the U.S. government.
