Securit will be holding an open house at its newest facility in Ottawa, Ontario on June 28. The plant is situated on six acres, and is 86,000 square feet. The new facility will be the largest facility for the company. The new plant, which will employee 52 people, will focus on records storage, both paper and electronic media. A spokeswoman for the company said that the data protection services will include CDs, DVDs, and other types of media. Services offered at the new plant will include document destruction, active file management, long-term box storage, online records management, disaster recovery programs, media vault programs, cataloging, auditing, records purging and database conversion, among other services.
Securit, which previously operated two records storage facilities in Ottawa, is merging the two operations so it can operate out of a centrally located plant.
"Under current privacy laws and new regulations, the security and document management needs of companies are growing at exponential rates," said Greg Brophy, company's president and CEO. "Since our inception, we have experienced double digit growth every year. Shred-it Document Destruction, the first Securit service, has been servicing customers in the Ottawa region since 1993."
While the facility is presently scaled at 86,000 square feet, the center can be expanded by an additional 65,000-70,000 square feet, if demand is warranted.
Jamie Mannion, general manager of Securit Ottawa, says, "The centre incorporates the latest information technology and security features and greatly enhances our ability to serve clients in the capital region. It represents an investment of $10.5 million and employs 52 people. We plan to hire additional employees as our business grows."
