Secure Data introduces integrated shredding package

Secure Data Ltd., a technology solutions provider for electronic data destruction based in Annapolis, Maryland, has opened a limited release on its Secure Shell product.

The Secure Shell is a hard, plastic container designed specifically to transport hard drives, cellphones and other small electronic-data-containing devices to a facility for destruction, Secure Data explains. With the intention of being destroyed along with its contents, the Secure Shell cannot be reopened without showing obvious signs of tampering, the company says.

Each device is tagged on-site with a customer identification label (CIL). When the Secure Shell is destroyed, a video software system records the distinct CIL as it enters the shredder.

A complement to the company’s Secure Shell product, the VisiShred system is an integrated software and hardware shredding package designed for commercial partners to provide their customers with video confirmation of secure destruction, according to the company.

VisiShred offers high-definition videos of each destroyed device, archived on a partner-to-client interface on Secure Data’s private label Web portal. With access to information in real time, Secure Data says customers can receive customizable reports immediately upon destruction.

Secure Data says this platform is an ideal solution for electronics recyclers, IT asset managers and large enterprises.
