The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has announced that funds are available through its Scrap Tire Market Development Grant Program to support projects that develop new or increased uses for scrap tires.
The DEQ says its Scrap Tire Market Development Grants reimburse up to 50 percent of the cost to purchase scrap tires to support the development of increased markets the material. Grant funding also is available to reimburse up to 50 percent of the cost of purchasing equipment or for research and development into new or increased use for scrap tires.
The DEQ will accept letters of interest postmarked on or before Feb. 15, 2013. Interested persons must first submit an approved letter of interest before submitting a full application. The DEQ will not accept letters of interest submitted by email or fax.
