Manitoba Corp., which is celebrating its 90th anniversary in business, recently held a grand opening for its newest recycling facility. According to Brian Shine, the new location, to be called Lancaster Recycling and Sales, is the company’s first move into the retail scrap recycling business. It is located in Lancaster, NY, in the same city as Manitoba’s mail facility.
“In our area we felt there was an opportunity to set up a recycling facility that was new, clean and modern,” Shine notes.
The new facility will focus on handling a wide range of nonferrous metals, an area that the company specializes in. These commodities include aluminum, copper, and perhaps paper and plastics. Also, Shine adds, the company will be taking in some scrap ferrous metals at the 8,000-square foot facility.
Along with using the new retail facility as a feeder facility for the company’s main location, the company is mulling the possibility of adding ancillary services to its menu of programs, depending on the interest from the public.
The facility will be open Monday through Friday. The company held its grand opening last week.
